the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), the Honourable
Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Member of Parliament
(Mégantic-L'Érable), today announced the Government of Canada's
contribution to Hockey Canada in support of the 2013 World Under-17

Challenge, and we are excited to see approximately 110 youth from
across the country represent both their region and Canada," said

The 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is taking place from December
29, 2012, to January 4, 2013, in Victoriaville and Drummondville,
Quebec. The tournament features teams from Canada (Atlantic Canada,
Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada, and Pacific Canada), Germany, Sweden,
Russia, Finland, Slovakia, and the United States of America.
The Government of Canada is the single largest contributor to sport in
Canada and supports participation and excellence from playground to
podium. A contribution of $50,000 was provided to Hockey Canada through
Sport Canada's Hosting Program.
