Creative fundraising nets major results six months into partnership with Canadian Cancer Society
VANCOUVER, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - GLENTEL Inc., a national mobile phone retailer and wireless solutions provider, today announced impressive fundraising results for the first six months of their multi-year partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division (CCS).
"I'm very proud to say that at our six month milestone our initiatives have already raised $331,000," said GLENTEL President and CEO, Tom Skidmore. "Our original commitment was to generate $1,000,000 for CCS over the next three years and we are likely to surpass that. Our customer engagement activities alone bring in an average of $10,000 in donations per week."
"It's a wonderful start to what will continue to be a successful and impactful partnership for both GLENTEL and CCS," said Barbara Kaminsky, CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division. "We appreciate everything GLENTEL is doing to help us fight cancer. These additional funds will support men's and women's health and we've been able to reach more people with our information about cancer and prevention thanks to GLENTEL's commitment to our cause."
GLENTEL's partnership with CCS uses a multi-tiered fundraising approach with employee giving, customer and supplier involvement as well as a corporate donation. As part of the partnership CCS provides GLENTEL with information and tools to help educate staff and customers about a different cancer every quarter, with an emphasis on prevention and early detection.
