PERTH, Australia, Nov. 22, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX: GXY) ("Galaxy" or "the Company") confirms that an incident occurred at its Jiangsu Lithium Carbonate
Plant ("Jiangsu" or "the Plant") yesterday during the commencement of a previously-announced, scheduled
three week maintenance shutdown.
The Company has been informed that a blocked fibreglass pipe ruptured in
the sodium sulphate crystallisation area of the Plant, during
maintenance activities, causing injuries to a number of employees and
contractors. The nature of the injuries relates to second degree burns,
from the heated sodium sulphate solution. The injured employees are
currently receiving medical treatment.
The Company has been working with emergency authorities on site and is
co-operating with regulatory authorities. In addition, the Company has
launched its own investigation into the incident.
It is expected that the re-establishment of the area will likely be
resolved during the scheduled outage.

(where Chile, Argentina and Bolivia meet) which is currently the source
of 60% of global lithium production. Sal de Vida has excellent promise
as a future low cost brine mine and lithium carbonate processing
facility. The Company also owns the James Bay (100%) Lithium Pegmatite
Project in Quebec, Canada.
Lithium compounds are used in the manufacture of ceramics, glass,
electronics and are an essential cathode material for long life
lithium-ion batteries used to power e-bikes and hybrid and electric
