From Trucks to Tiaras; Children's Wish Supporters Raise Over $30,000 in One Weekend

VANCOUVER, June 18, 2015 /CNW/ - This past weekend saw two successful events to benefit the BC & Yukon Chapter of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.  Supporters from the trucking community attended the 4th Annual APNA Truck Show which filled the Abbotsford TRADEX with big rigs and chrome, while local Fraser Valley families flocked to The Coast Hotel & Convention Centre in Langley, which was transformed into a royal ballroom for the 4th annual Princess & Pirates Tea Party.

Although the events attracted different crowds, supporters were united by the magic of a wish. Thanks to their generosity, the two events raised more than $30,000; enough funds for the Canadian wish granting organization to grant three wishes for children with life threatening illnesses.

Kristyl Clark, who pens the popular ValleyMom.ca blog, was in attendance at Sunday's Princess & Pirates Tea Party which raised more than $6,500. "The Princess Tea Party has now become an annual tradition for my two daughters, my mom and me. It's so fun to get all dressed up (even us moms) and support such a great cause. ValleyMom.ca was also thrilled to once again be a media sponsor - we'll definitely be back next year!"

Sonia Beeksma of Global BC, a passionate advocate for Children's Wish, hosted the APNA banquet on Saturday night and was amazed by the support of members of the trucking community, who donated over $23,000 in just 20 minutes.

Tony Arora, Director of Sales & Marketing for APNA said, "We have been supporting the Children's Wish Foundation for years through the APNA Truck Show, and it was clear that we also had the support from the trucking community. APNA translates to "Ours" and we were pleased to see exhibitioners, members and participants support us in efforts of reaching our goal of $25,000."

Chapter Director Jennifer Petersen said "I am always inspired by the generousity of Children's Wish supporters. We are truly blessed to have support from members of such diverse communities. The magic of a wish is something we can all create and celebrate together."
