CALGARY, Aug. 10 /CNW/ - Finally, a new and permanent home will be a reality for the Calgary Farmers' Market. Construction at the Blackfoot Centre location, which will begin this week, is a new chapter for the city's largest farmers' market.
At a Groundbreaking Event on Wednesday, August 11 at 1:00 p.m. Calgary Farmers' Market vendors, customers, and business partners will meet at 510, 77th Avenue SW to celebrate this significant milestone. "This is a great turning point for us," says Ken Aylesworth, General Manager of the Calgary Farmers' Market, "We've been marching toward this goal for the last six years, and today we move from talk to action. We now have a place we can finally call home, and we'll soon be inviting everyone to join us at our new kitchen table."
The event will feature keynote speaker John Gilchrist, celebrated food critic, and comments by Ken Aylesworth, who will share the many exciting features of the new location.
There will also be the opportunity to meet new vendors who'll be joining the Calgary Farmers' Market when the new location opens this winter. "All our vendors have made significant investments in the new location," said Aylesworth, "They are committed to helping us exemplify the ideals of grower-direct and living the Alberta Farmer's Market guidelines." Attendees, including partners and municipal representatives, will also enjoy delicious samples including mini-burgers, fresh squeezed lemonade and locally grown produce from Market vendors.
Media are invited to attend this event, which will feature opportunities for photos and onsite interviews with the new vendors, partners and managers.
