EurOmax Commence Drilling 5 Kilometre Copper Zone at Kazandol
A planned 4,000 metre reverse circulation drilling program at Kazandol in Macedonia has commenced. Road and drill pad construction has been completed and 53 drillholes permitted. This program will systematically test 5 kilometres of the strike of the previously mapped copper bearing, shallowly dipping, Kazandol copper zone.
Drilling and mapping have now defined an extensive sub-horizontal copper zone in greenschist and granite above a thrust fault with un-mineralized granite in the lower thrust sheet. This copper-bearing upper plate outcrops over an area of 800 metres by 800 metres at Kazandol North and has now been mapped in outcrop and with geochemistry over a strike of more than 5 kilometres to the south.
Mineralization consists of tenorite, a copper oxide and malachite a copper carbonate both readily acid soluble. Previous drilling, at the northern end of this trend at Kazandol north, reported encouraging results including 47 metres at 0.6% copper beneath wide trench intercepts including 115 meters at 0.6% copper.
Drilling will commence at the southern end of the Kazandol copper zone where there is widespread malachite, tenorite and cuprite in outcrop associated with stockworked granite bodies.
