Election Day in Whitby-Oshawa Provincial By-Election is Thursday February 11, 2016

TORONTO, Feb. 10, 2016 /CNW/ - 70 voting locations will be open throughout the electoral district of Whitby-Oshawa from 9 AM to 9 PM (ET) on Thursday February 11, 2016, for over 111,105 eligible voters to cast their ballot in the provincial By-election.

There are ten candidates running to fill the seat as Member of Provincial Parliament for the electoral district of Whitby-Oshawa. A complete list of candidates is available at elections.on.ca.

Canadian citizens who reside in the electoral district of Whitby-Oshawa and are at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day, Thursday February 11, 2016, are eligible to vote.

Eligible voters are reminded to bring their Notice of Registration Card and proof of identity or one piece of identification that includes both their name and residential address with them to vote. A detailed list of acceptable identification documents is available at elections.on.ca

  • A blackout on political advertising begins at midnight on Tuesday February 9, 2016 (ET) and ends at 11:59 PM (ET) on Thursday February 11, 2016.
  • The publication of election surveys that have not previously been made public is prohibited between midnight (ET) on Wednesday February 10, 2016 and 9 PM (ET) on Thursday February 11, 2016.
  • Filming or photography is not permitted in the polls, except for a photo opportunity of a candidate casting their ballot. Photo opportunities must be arranged between the candidate and the local Whitby-Oshawa Returning Officer.
  • Media representatives may make arrangements with the Whitby-Oshawa Returning Officer to be present at the local returning office following the close of polls at 9 PM (ET) on Thursday February 11, 2016.
  • Unofficial election results will be available at elections.on.ca after the close of polls at 9 PM (ET) on Thursday February 11, 2016.
