TORONTO, Feb. 3 /CNW/ - TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin will be in Brockville Sunday February 28 and Monday March 1 to hear from citizens in Eastern Ontario about how the province is being reinvented in the new economy. This will be the second stop of The Agenda with Steve Paikin 2010 On the Road winter tour. The two-day event features a daylong, participant-led workshop called AgendaCamp on the Sunday at St. Lawrence College and a live, on-location broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin at the Brockville Arts Centre on the Monday at 8 pm.

What does Ontario need to become a 21st-century powerhouse? Could the new Ontario be a green Ontario? How can your community contribute and benefit. TVO will provide the platform for citizens of Eastern Ontario share their ideas about what is needed to move the agenda forward? The unique two-day event is driven by participants whose ideas and discussions at the AgendaCamp will determine the focus of the broadcast the following day.

"We had an exciting time at our first stop in London," says anchor and senior editor Steve Paikin. "A lot of good ideas were raised and we ran a bit of an experiment in that everyone who came out to the camp was a producer in that they set the agenda for the program the next day. We're looking to build on that momentum in Brockville."

Last year, TVO and The Agenda with Steve Paikin took citizen engagement and community outreach to a whole new level with the popular five-city Agenda on the Road tour exploring Ontario's regional economies. The AgendaCamp for Eastern Ontario last January in Kingston had one of the best turnouts by participants on the tour. This year, like last, AgendaCamps are integral to the success of the tour. The TVO-hosted community forums bring together community leaders, policymakers, members of the public, program guests, and Steve Paikin to share ideas about reinventing Ontario in the 21st century.

"TVO is part of the social fabric of Ontario," says TVO's Chief Executive Officer, Lisa de Wilde. "And our On the Road events are all about building cohesive communities by enabling a province-wide conversation on what we need to become a global leader for the 21st century. It's a great example of what makes public television in Ontario so unique: our goal is to make a positive difference in people's lives."

To participate in and propose a session for AgendaCamp, or for free tickets to be part of the live audience the following day, go to tvo.org/agendacamp to register.

Following Brockville, The Agenda with Steve Paikin On the Road tour will continue in Timmins on March 21 and 22.
