Developer of THE RIVER leads the way in flood protection design enhancements

Record-breaking development raises ground floor to be above the June floods

CALGARY, Oct. 31, 2013 /CNW/ - THE RIVER, Calgary's record breaking luxury residential development has incorporated new design enhancements in response to the recent floods.

The ground floor has been raised by just over two feet, to be above the highest watermark recorded at the site during the June floods, providing enhanced protection against the impacts of possible future flooding.  This was a significant undertaking as construction of the underground parking for the project was already underway.  THE RIVER team worked closely with The City of Calgary, Dialog Architects and other consultants to design and implement flood mitigation measures.

This design enhancement will provide greater peace of mind and comfort for those wanting to live on one of the last remaining waterfront properties in Calgary.

The developer, 26th Avenue River Investments Inc. is a dynamic affiliate of Ledcor Properties Inc. involved in the development and investment of real estate.  Their diversified portfolio includes landmark projects such as Shaw Tower and the Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver, and the Honua Kai Resort in Maui as well as residential, commercial, office and resort developments throughout North America.

Construction is well underway and only 12 homes remain available.  Ranging from $820,000 to $8.99 million, THE RIVER offers 38 residences including 12 Riverhomes and 26 Towerhomes in a 15-storey tower. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2015.
