The Chickenburger named the gem of Halifax by Delta Recommends
HALIFAX, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - Employees at Delta Halifax and Delta Barrington chose The Chickenburger as one of Halifax's best kept secrets. Over the past year, Delta employees in Halifax have compiled their personal recommendations on the best places to eat, browse, work out, relax and more, as part of Delta Recommends.
Delta Recommends is an employee-driven initiative that enables staff to share their diverse interests, tastes and experiences with guests.
Today's travelers look for a more authentic travel experience. Delta Recommends goes beyond the standard tourist destinations to show guests the lesser known special places in our communities. The Delta Recommends database houses thousands of hidden gems in Halifax and in communities across Canada.
The Chickenburger is reputed as the oldest drive-in restaurant in Canada. Founded in 1940 by the Innes family, "The Chick" is a nostalgic 50s setting where hungry patrons dine on homestyle burgers, thick milkshakes, fresh haddock and chips and of course their signature chicken burger. The Chickenburger was chosen as Halifax's hidden gem because eating there takes you back to when life was sweet and simple.
"The Chickenburger and its team of dedicated employees have been serving Maritimers for over 69 years and we welcome all visitors to indulge in our infamous chicken burger," said Colin MacDonald, General Manager, The Chickenburger. "We are so pleased that Delta Halifax and Delta Barrington thought of us as one of Nova Scotia's hidden gems!"
The Discovery Centre and Sugah! Confectionery & Ice Cream Emporium were also selected as hidden gems in Halifax.
"Delta Recommends is a great way to provide our guests with the chance to experience the best of Halifax through the eyes of those who live, work and play there," said Stuart Jolliffe, Regional Vice President, Delta Hotels and Resorts, Atlantic Canada Region. "Our employees have a wealth of knowledge about their communities and this is our way of sharing it with our guests."
Employees at all 44 Delta Hotels and Resorts submitted their favourite local destinations as the must-see hidden gems in their community. Guests will find detailed information on the local gem and other hidden hot spots in the city they are visiting during their stay at Delta properties.
