According to the Canada Revenue Agency, most taxpayers and tax preparers will use NETFILE or EFILE to file their federal tax returns. Of the 19.9 million returns received last year, 12.8 million were filed electronically, up 10% from the previous year. As a result, Tax Day, or the deadline to file tax returns, has now become Cyber Tax Day, the busiest filing day of the year.

Matthew Cheng, founder of Cyber Tax Day Canada predicts, "For the first time, more than 60% of taxpayers will do their taxes online or electronically. Canadians want to finish their taxes as fast as they can as painlessly as they can but tend to wait until the last minute to file."

As of April 11, 2010, only 2.6 million tax returns (about 20% of last year's total) have been filed electronically.
