TORONTO, Aug. 19, 2015 /CNW/ - CraveTVTM announced today it will expand its exclusive HBO Collection, as more
than 180 documentaries begin streaming inside the newly launched HBO
Documentary Films strand, beginning Friday, Aug. 21, as part of #iCraveFridays. The prestigious slate of HBO Documentary Films is the latest addition
to join CraveTV's HBO Collection, following the launch of HBO Films and
HBO Stand-Up earlier this summer. Along with award-winning scripted
programs (such as THE SOPRANOS, THE WIRE, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, and
ENTOURAGE), the rapidly growing HBO Collection is one of the most
popular on CraveTV.
As part of today's announcement, CraveTV also confirms the acclaimed HBO
documentary GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF (premiering on HBO Canada Sunday, Sept. 6 at 9 p.m. ET) will join CraveTV's HBO Documentary Films collection following its run
on HBO Canada. Based on the book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright and
directed by Academy Award® winner Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side) the film profiles eight former members of the Church of Scientology,
whose most prominent followers include A-list Hollywood celebrities,
detailing their experiences and what they were willing to do in the
name of religion.
"Documentaries are a key ingredient to the success of the CraveTV lineup
and the addition of the HBO Documentary Films strand is a very welcome
addition to our HBO Collection," said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice
President, Programming for CraveTV. "This is a vast and diverse
collection of award winning titles that will continue to grow over time
featuring a mix of entertaining, educational, topical, and informative
stories, many of which have historical and cultural significance."

Other titles that begin streaming this Friday include two Spike Lee
films. The Emmy® Award- and Peabody Award-winning WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE: A REQUIEM IN FOUR ACTS offers devastating first-hand accounts of the scene in New Orleans
after Hurricane Katrina hit. The Academy® Award-nominated 4 LITTLE GIRLS tells the story of four African-American girls who were murdered when a
Birmingham, Ala. church was bombed in 1963.
New titles also include WISHFUL DRINKING, Carrie Fisher's one-woman show that covers everything from her Star Wars experiences to her addictions and famous family; WITNESS, a four-part series from Michael Mann (HEAT, MIAMI VICE) that follows
four different war photographers at work in warzones; and PARADISE LOST 1: THE CHILD MURDERS AT ROBIN HOOD HILLS, PARADISE 2: REVELATIONS, and (Academy Award- and Emmy Award-nominated) PARADISE LOST 3: PURGATORY, which focuses on the West Memphis Three, three teenagers who were
accused of killing three boys.
The collection also includes Emmy Award winner GHOSTS OF ABU GHRAIB, which delves into torture at the Iraq prison; HIS WAY, which tells the story of legendary producer Jerry Weintraub; IN VOGUE: THE EDITOR'S EYE, a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic fashion magazine, Vogue; MANHUNT, which showcases the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, and SEDUCED AND ABANDONED, which follows Alec Baldwin and director James Toback as they try to
get a film financed at the Cannes Film Festival, and includes
interviews with Ryan Gosling, Martin Scorsese, and more.
