OTTAWA, Jan. 29, 2016 /CNW/ - Clearford Water Systems Inc. ("Clearford" or the "Company"), (TSXV: CLI), today announced that the Clearford One™ installation to service Fetherston Mobile Home Park in North Grenville Ontario is now operational. The system is now collecting and treating sanitary sewage for 38 permanent residences, with capacity to service 46. The potable water network is also complete. Both the potable water and wastewater treatment plants include ultra violet purification using the Hallet® system designed and manufactured by UV Pure Technologies Inc. of Toronto, a subsidiary of Clearford. This is the first installation in Canada of Clearford One™, the latest generation of the company's proprietary unified sanitation system.
The $1 million system is designed, funded, installed and operated by Clearford Water Utility (Fetherston) Inc. under a 30 year Service Agreement with Fetherston Mobile Home Park Association. The Association will pay a fixed charge per month per residence, adjusted annually to reflect the change in the Consumer Price Index. The Clearford Pay-For-Performance (P4P™) delivery model is available to Municipalities in Ontario and was announced in January 2015.
The Clearford One™ system is based on distributed treatment at the sewage source in ClearDigest™, collection of liquid outflow from ClearDigest™ through a small bore flexible pipe network, ClearConvey™, and final treatment in a Membrane BioReactor (MBR) treatment plant, ClearRecover™.
For Fetherston, ClearRecover™ incorporates a packaged MBR supplied to Clearford by Koester Canada. The packaged MBR incorporates new Fibracast FIBREPlate™ next generation membrane technology, as well as Hallet® ultra violet purification supplied by UV Pure Technologies Inc. Operation of the Fetherston system has been contracted by Clearford to Koester–Team Aquatic (KTA), an established Ontario operator of wastewater treatment plants. Clearford retains full responsibility for the system with service functions performed by KTA.
"Clearford One™ provides this community with wastewater management service that is affordable for residents while providing environmental performance superior to conventional systems ", said Kevin Loiselle, Clearford's President and CEO. "We believe that Clearford One™ and the Pay For Performance™ delivery model will allow many communities in Ontario to meet wastewater management needs without being burdened by debt and with full life cycle service charges significantly lower than the cost of conventional systems," Mr. Loiselle said.
In the summer of 2013 the Municipality of North Grenville issued a notice to the residents that it would close the park and evict residents due to public health concerns related to the failed wastewater system. Clearford has provided a unique solution which has allowed the residents of Fetherston to revitalize the Park and maintain their homes.
Clearford will be hosting a commissioning event at Fetherston on February 19, with a Grand Opening to follow in the summer of 2016.
