TORONTO, June 9 /CNW/ - The Canadian Grocery HR Council (CGHRC) has released four labour market information (LMI) summary reports on its website, highlighting key statistics and data gathered from its research studies conducted in 2008.
The four reports provide findings and recommendations on e-learning as a training approach in our sector, demographic alternatives to hiring youth, employee turnover and retention best practices, and national survey statistics based on the 2008 studies.
"In an industry that is highly dependent on human capital investment and workforce quality to maintain competitiveness and achieve future growth, providing timely and relevant labour market information to Canada's grocers will enable them to better understand and guide the direction of their long-term workforce investments," says Cheryl Paradowski, Executive Director of the CGHRC.
The LMI data in the reports can be used by employers for turnover benchmarks, recruitment and retention of alternative labour pools, and understanding training delivery options in a 24/7 industry.
These reports and the research studies that led to their development were created to provide benchmarking data for employers in response to a lack of available labour market information on the grocery sector in Canada.
Each report is accompanied by a Power Point presentation highlighting key findings and recommendations, and are free to access on the CGHRC's website at www.cghrc.ca/en/employers/recruit-retain-resources/288.
Established in 2003, the Canadian Grocery HR Council (CGHRC) is a nationally recognized, non-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada's Sector Council Program (SCP) that brings together representatives from business, labour, education, industry associations, government and other professional groups to support a collective response to the grocery industry's human resource challenges.
