CDW Canada's Mary Ann Yule Appointed to Influential Organization Dedicated to Enhancing Careers of Women in IT
Yule to play key role in guiding strategies for Canadian women in technology
ETOBICOKE, ON, Aug. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - CDW Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Ann Yule, the company's Vice President and General Manager, to the Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) Advisory Council (CAC).
CanWIT, a division of CATAAlliance, is a national volunteer organization dedicated to expanding and enhancing the careers of women in the advanced technology field. The CAC serves as a governing body to provide guidance and advice in relation to the implementation of CanWIT's mandate — to support women in Canada's technology sector — and also offers a community network to assess needs, trends and achievements. Some of the council's roles and activities include providing guidance on advocacy initiatives, advising on community outreach programs, identifying funding and sponsorship opportunities, guiding marketing and brand strategy, providing leadership for mentorship programs and providing advice on student engagement.
"I am honoured to be selected as a member of this very distinguished group," says Yule. "The IT industry offers incredible career development and personal growth opportunities for Canadian women. As a person who strongly believes in mentorship and education, I look forward to helping the CAC promote and support the careers of women in IT."
Yule brings more than 15 years of extensive leadership, marketing, sales, and product and partner management experience to her new role on the Council. Under her leadership, CDW Canada has become one of Canada's top five technology providers, one of Canada's Top 100 Employers and one of the top workplaces for women. Through Yule's guidance, CDW Canada offers programs and initiatives to help nurture female coworkers including the Women's Opportunity Network.
"Mary Ann is a great asset to our council and the CanWIT family. Her significant leadership experience, commitment to customer loyalty, and results-driven focus made her a natural fit for our team," says Dr. Catherine Aczel Boivie, CEO and Chair, CanWIT. "We look forward to working with Mary Ann as we aim to build a better business environment of support and success for women in technology."
