Canada's top Medical Transcription School now offering The Robert Thompson scholarship to individuals who have overcome hardships in their lives and who have given back to their community through volunteer work.
LAKE COUNTRY, BC, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - CanScribe Career Centre, Inc., Canada's top Medical Transcription School, is offering a new scholarship, the Robert Thompson Scholarship. This scholarship is dedicated to Robert Thompson, a former Medical Transcription student at CanScribe who passed away in late 2009.
The scholarship is valued at $2500 and intended for those potential students who have overcome significant hardships in their lives and who have given back to their community through volunteer work. This scholarship is open to residents of Vancouver Island and will be used for tuition for CanScribe's nationally recognized Medical Transcription program. One scholarship will be awarded per year. Colleen Gaudet, President & CEO of CanScribe states that, "Robert was an inspiration to all of us and we were in awe of his perseverance and positive attitude through extremely hard times. We wanted to do something to honour his life and the scholarship seemed like a perfect fit."
Triumph Vocational Services was instrumental in assisting Robert to reach his most recent educational goals and scholarship applicants will be chosen from their client base on Vancouver Island. "I am thrilled to hear this exciting news! The Robert Thompson Scholarship will be a significant support to a student who wishes to enhance his or her career opportunities, as Robert Thompson did. Applications will be taken from April 1st to December 1st each year and awarded annually on Robert's birthday, January 11. Scholarship application forms are available at Triumph Vocational Services at (250) 716-1214.
To be considered for this scholarship, students must be living on Vancouver Island and be a client of Triumph Vocation Services (any location on Vancouver Island). They will be required to write a 500-word essay answering these questions:
- What are the hardships in your life you have been able to overcome?
- How did you overcome your hardships?
- What has your community involvement been throughout your lifetime?
- What draws you to our Medical Transcription program?
