SAINT-GEORGES, QC, April 24, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Canam, a business segment of Canam Group Inc. (TSX: CAM), North America's largest fabricator of steel components, is
today deploying its BuildMaster® approach across the United States. The approach, which has been offered
in Canada since the end of 2010, is a safer and faster process based on
collaboration with partners that is redefining the way buildings are
designed and constructed.
The BuildMaster approach is characterized by a different, more organized and more
efficient way of doing things, providing a structured organization to
the job site, and as a result, reducing assembly schedules by up to
"After offering the BuildMaster approach to our customers in Canada and
New England for over three years, we are proud to share the advantages
of this initiative, which has generated extremely impressive results,
with the American market. This is an important step forward in the
construction industry, since it allows us to optimize the installation
of buildings to the benefit of our clients. With 21 manufacturing
facilities located across North America, Canam now positions itself as
a best practices integrator to help it stay ahead of its main
competitors," explains Joël Nadeau, Vice-President of Canam Buildings.
BuildMaster: a simple, straightforward and predictable way to build
The BuildMaster approach was born of a need to simplify the construction
process, especially when it comes to building envelope. Used on more
than 300 industrial, commercial and institutional projects to date, it
allows Canam to make the construction experience more enjoyable for
owners, architects, general contractors, fabricators and steel
erectors, by facilitating the interaction between the various building
trades involved. "We are no longer just a fabricator of steel
components, but an actual partner in the success of our customers'
projects. This involves a great deal of maturity and an uncontested
ability to fulfill our commitments," says Mr. Nadeau.
BuildMaster: planning and job site integration
The strength of the BuildMaster approach is that coordination with the
customer starts at the design stage. Canam's upstream involvement helps
design the building and its components in a way that optimizes job site
deliveries, component identification and installation procedures. Steel
components are delivered in sequence, which allow workers to work
faster, on a better-organized and clutter free job site, thus providing
a clearer vision of the work to be done. By working with steel
erectors, Canam makes sure it monitors the overall construction
"The BuildMaster approach has been fine-tuned over the last three years.
Canam remains attentive to its customers and partners in order to keep
improving construction processes," concludes Joël Nadeau.
