Canadian Hedge Fund Executives Open their Hearts to Support the Prevention
and Treatment of Child Abuse

Sixth Annual Hedge Funds Care Canada Gala to be held November 4th

TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW/ - Leaders of Canada's hedge fund industry and their guests will gather November 4th for the sixth annual Open Your Hearts to the Children Gala - a special fundraising evening organized by Hedge Funds Care Canada. The event will be held at the C5 restaurant lounge at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

Hedge Funds Care Canada President and Director Corey Goldman said that all proceeds from the event will go to support local and national foundations that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse. To date, he noted, Hedge Funds Care Canada has raised more than $650,000 in support of this worthwhile cause.

"At this year's event we plan to recognize the Child Development Institute, an important Hedge Funds Care Canada grant recipient, which is celebrating its 100th year of outstanding service to Canada's children," Mr Goldman said.

"We also plan to present a special award to Sprott Asset Management in appreciation of their role as Hedge Funds Care Canada's lead supporter and largest donor."

Meghan MacNicol, who is serving as Chair of this year's event, said: "The response to the gala and the cause it supports has been overwhelming, which is particularly important in these challenging times. It's gratifying to be able to help fund this year's grant recipients who will include: Sprott Asset Management, Scotia Capital, MAN Investments, Polar Securities, Marret Asset Management, Mapleridge Capital, Hillsdale Capital, and others outside of Canada, including HSBC."

About Hedge Funds Care

Hedge Funds Care Canada was established in 2004 as a way for the Canadian hedge fund community to give back to organizations that provide prevention services to children and families who are at risk for abuse and/or neglect, and treatment to children who have been victims of abuse.

Hedge Funds Care Canada is part of a global alliance that began 10 years ago in New York and has grown into an international nonprofit organization. To date, Hedge Funds Care has distributed over $21 million through more than 600 grants among its various chapters in Toronto, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Denver, London, the South Florida region and the Cayman Islands.

Hedge Funds Care is proud to be the only business group solely devoted to combating child abuse, and in 10 years has made a powerful contribution to saving children. Because of the shame associated with child abuse, it remains a dramatically under-resourced and rarely discussed problem.
