OTTAWA, Aug. 5 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited (CBN) has been presented with the Élan Card Manufacturing Excellence Award for the Best Government Identification Card for the Canadian Permanent Resident Card.
In the global arena of world-class cards, the International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA) Élan Awards for Card Manufacturing Excellence are the pinnacle of design innovation and technical achievement. Past recipients have included leading card manufacturers from around the globe.
CBN's winning card design was developed in close collaboration with the Canadian Federal Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada for the Canadian Permanent Resident Card. The new card design represented an evolution from the previous card design which was also originated by CBN and first issued in 2002. The original design was also an Élan Award winner.
CBN's President of Identification and Payments Systems, Ian Shaw, remarked that..."it is a credit to the skill and expertise of our secure document designers and our manufacturing operations coupled with the commitment of our Partner (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) that we were able to create not only an esthetically pleasing design but also a secure document that is recognized internationally as one of the most secure government issued identification documents of its kind."
The Permanent Resident Card is issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as the official proof of status as a permanent resident in Canada. The wallet-sized plastic card is required for all permanent residents of Canada seeking to re-enter Canada on a commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train or bus).
