WINNIPEG, April 21 /CNW/ - Balmoral Hall School, an all girls' university prep school in Winnipeg, is proud to be honouring Julie Payette - Astronaut and first Canadian to participate in an ISS assembly mission and board the International Space Station - at the Yes She Can Award Dinner on May 3. The Yes She Can award recognizes exceptional women who have gained international prominence in their career and are role models for young women.
The Hon. John P. Manley, P.C., O.C., who will be introducing Julie Payette at the Yes She Can Award Dinner states, "Julie Payette's journey from growing up in Montreal to operating the Canadarm robotic arm in space is an inspiration to anyone who hears it. Along the way, she became multilingual, a professional engineer, an accomplished musician and Chief Astronaut for the Canadian Space Agency. It was my privilege as Minister for the Agency to be her "boss" and to share in the pride we all feel in her accomplishments."
Ms. Payette will be honoured on May 3 at a Gala Dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in Winnipeg. The Yes She Can Award Dinner is open to public and tickets and tables for the event are still available. They can be obtained by contacting Tina Alto, at (204) 784-1614 or email@example.com. The proceeds from this event are endowed at The Winnipeg Foundation to enable Balmoral Hall School to provide scholarship funding for deserving young women.
