EDMONTON, May 28 /CNW Telbec/ - LABCON2010, the national congress of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS), will bring together laboratory professionals from across the country. The conference will be held in Edmonton, AB from May 28 - June 1, 2010 at the Mayfield Inn & Suites.
LABCON2010 is the premier professional development conference for laboratory professionals and is the largest event of its kind in Canada. Over forty-five presenters are scheduled to speak on various laboratory and health care related topics.
"The events in Newfoundland and the subsequent Cameron Inquiry have highlighted the important role medical laboratory professionals need to play in the Canadian health care system," said Christine Nielsen, CSMLS' Executive Director. "Now more than ever, it is important that we as a profession strive towards continuous development and building strong knowledge networks."
The conference officially begins with an opening ceremony to take place at 9:00am on Saturday May 29. Pre-conference workshops, scientific sessions and exhibits will take place throughout the four-day conference.

The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is the national certifying body for medical laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants, and the national professional society for Canada's medical laboratory professionals. Incorporated in 1937 as the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists, the society has over 14,000 members in Canada and in countries around the world.
