Canada's oldest chocolate company Ganong announces new President and CEO

ST STEPHEN, NB, April 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Ganong Bros., Limited today announced the appointment of Bryana Ganong as the company's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Bryana becomes the fifth generation of Ganong family to hold the position for this storied Canadian company that operates its only manufacturing facility in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

"Bryana's experience and expertise will help meet the continued growth and success for the Ganong and Sunkist brands that have made this company a household name," says Board Chair Hubert Saint-Onge.  "Bryana's proven record of leadership, strategy development, customer service, team building, financial and relationship management will continue to guide us through an ever changing global environment, while ensuring the strong New Brunswick and Canadian roots that built this company are never far from our minds."

Since joining Ganong on a full time basis in 1997, Bryana has worked in a variety of roles throughout the organization including R&D, Product Development, Contract Manufacturing, Marketing and Public Relations.  Her most recent role before this change was that of Vice President of Business Development and Brand Marketing.

With these changes, effective August 12th, David Ganong, will be leaving the position of President and CEO, after a combined total of 33 years in those roles, to assume the newly created position of Executive Vice Chair and will continue to provide active support and advise to the CEO and the management team.

Nick Ganong will be moving into the new position of Vice President of Sales and Business Development. In addition to continuing to lead and guide the Domestic Sales team, the Contract Accounts group and Contract sales will be the responsibility of Nick Ganong.

Nick joined the Company in 2003 after completing his Business degree and has worked in HR, Production planning, plant floor management, supply chain management and most recently VP Sales for Canada.

Established in 1873, Ganong has the distinction of being Canada's oldest, independently family owned and operated candy company, manufacturing all its products in St. Stephen New Brunswick.

Ganong has been a Canadian innovator of many chocolate and confectionery products for over 140 years. From The Original Chicken BonesTM, DelectoTM boxed chocolates to Pal-o-MineTM and Fruitfull TM, consumers across Canada have developed a sense of 'sweet nostalgia' for Ganong products that continues to this day.

Bryana Ganong

Bryana Ganong currently serves as Vice President, Business Development and Marketing at Ganong Bros. Limited in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

A family-owned and operated Canadian success story since 1873, Ganong Bros. chocolates and candies are sold coast-to-coast in Canada and throughout the United States. The company also serves a worldwide clientele through its online store at

Bryana began her career at Bell Canada before joining Ganong as a Marketing Assistant in 1997. She rose through the ranks and has held numerous management positions at Ganong Bros. Limited, exposing her to many facets of the business. She is also deeply involved in the company's expansion project, working with both internal and external partners.

Bryana attended both McGill University and the University of Western Ontario before returning to New Brunswick in 1997 to join the family business.

She is active in the community having mentored through the P.A.L.S. mentoring program for seven years. Additionally, Bryana sits on the Board of the Confectionary Manufacturers Association of Canada.

Today, Bryana lives in her hometown of St. Stephen New Brunswick with her husband and three children.

Nicholas Ganong

Nick Ganong is the Vice President, Sales & Procurement for Canada at Ganong Bros. Limited in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

For the past 10 years, Nick, a fifth-generation family business member, has held many positions at Ganong in marketing, production, operations and management.

He is a former member of the AHSC Region 2 Health Board; conference member for the 2008 Governor Generals Canadian Leadership Conference and a former Vice President of Enterprise Charlotte.

Nick is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is also a devoted family man, living in St. Stephen New Brunswick with his wife and two children.
