Canada's Internet community convenes in Toronto for CIRA's annual general meeting

Discussion on the future of the Internet headlines national meeting of .CA domain name

TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - Canadians Connected 2016, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority's (CIRA) Annual General Meeting brings together entrepreneurs, activists, thinkers, and technologists from Canada's Internet community. This year's event will feature discussion and dialogue on the future of the Internet and what leaders in Canada can do to improve Canadians' Internet experience and access.

  • Sue Gardner is the former Director of and now special advisor to Wikipedia. She's also the only Canadian to make it onto Forbes' The World's 100 Most Powerful Women list. At Wikipedia, Gardner introduced major initiatives focused on organizational maturity, long-term sustainability, and increased participation, reach, and quality of the Foundation's free-knowledge projects.   • Byron Holland has been involved with the Internet for more than 20 years, as an end-user for technology-based businesses, as the leader of a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry and as an active leader in international Internet governance. Byron is currently the President and CEO of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the organization that manages the .CA top-level domain (TLD) on behalf of Canadians.
