CALGARY, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - The Artevo 'Artists of the World' Gallery in Calgary, Alberta, recently held the largest exhibition of original and limited-edition artwork to date by artist Jane Seymour, OBE, actor, also known for being an Emmy and Golden Globe Winner, a star of film, stage and television. The exhibition titled '"Up Close and Personal" The Art of Jane Seymour,' was an outstanding success being the highest grossing Jane Seymour art exhibition to date. The largest collection of original artworks were offered for acquisition at the two extravagant galas held on the 8th and 9th of October, with in excess of 400 guests in attendance.
Ms. Seymour commented, "The people of Calgary loved the spirit and concept of the art, especially the Open Heart collection which they truly embraced as a way to help heal people personally and globally."
Calgarians warmed to the artworks very quickly. Ms. Seymour's paintings clearly demonstrate the healing power of art by imparting a sense of peace and calm. They are spontaneous, honest, and from the heart; each holding a special meaning and are beautifully executed. "Most importantly, each artwork automatically has a history. Ms. Seymour is loved the world over, her legacy and artworks will endure," said Christopher Talbot, President and Chief Executive Officer of Artevo.
Artevo is excited to be able to present Ms. Seymour at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. The image "Compete with an Open Heart" was selected by the Olympic Committee to be one of the official images representing the U.S. Winter Olympic team. "This is a fabulous image, rich in meaning. The open heart image is rapidly becoming a universal symbol of giving and receiving love, transcending status, race and religion," said Christopher Talbot. A limited-edition of the elegant image was unveiled at the Artevo gala. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this image go to support the Olympic athletes.
"This is the third time I've been invited to be an official artist for the Olympics. I chose my Open Heart image because the Olympics represents a special time in the world when we all put our differences behind us and open our hearts to acknowledge the achievements of our athletes," said Ms. Seymour.
"Up Close and Personal" is now being exhibited at the Artevo Gallery in Victoria, B.C. October 29th, 30th, and 31st, which is the second leg of the Canadian tour. Upcoming is a special exhibition which is being planned for mid-February, 2010 during the Vancouver Winter Games.
