TORONTO, Jan. 22 /CNW/ - BSH Home Appliances Corporation has announced a voluntary field repair of Thermador(R) brand built-in double ovens in Canada in an expansion of the recall originally issued on June 29, 2007.
Although BSH has not received any reports of fires or injuries in Canada caused by the Thermador(R) brand built-in double ovens, the oven may have gaps in the insulation where overheating can occur, and when used in the self-cleaning mode it can cause nearby cabinets to catch fire. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.
Consumers should stop using the self-cleaning mode in any affected unit immediately and contact the firm to arrange for a free onsite inspection and repair if necessary.
The model numbers of the double ovens are C272B, C302B, SEC272, SEC302, SECD272 and SECD302. The ovens have serial numbers between FD8403 through FD8701. The model number and FD/serial number can be found on the underside of the control panel.
The recalled ovens were sold through appliance and specialty stores in Canada from June 2004 through July 2007. Approximately 550 units of the recalled ovens were sold in Canada.
