Bruce Power and partners launch #BreakTheSilence social media campaign

TIVERTON, ON, May 3, 2016 /CNW/ - Bruce Power and numerous partners from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties are encouraging the community to #BreakTheSilence during Mental Health Awareness Week, May 2-8.

For every Like or Share of the #BreakTheSilence hashtag on social media, Bruce Power will donate $1 to local mental health initiatives, up to $80,000. The campaign was launched at the Bruce Power Visitors' Centre this morning. Learn more about it at www.breakthesilencebgh.com.

"Bruce Power understands the importance of breaking down the barriers that prevent people from talking about mental health issues," said Cathy Sprague, Executive Vice President, Human Resources. "Mental illness touches people in every walk of life, and through the #BreakTheSilence campaign we hope to raise awareness and financially assist important mental health programs throughout Bruce, Grey and Huron counties."

Bruce Power and its partners in health care and government want residents to #BreakTheSilence by following Bruce Power on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, where you can Like and Share our posts using the hashtag.

Bruce Power's Employee Wellness organization will also be holding a series of on-site events during Mental Health Awareness Week.
