VANCOUVER, Dec. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - British Columbians for International Prosperity today applauded the decision of the Joint Review Panel that recommended to the federal Government that the Northern Gateway Pipeline proceed with comprehensive conditions.
"British Columbians for International Prosperity has always taken the position that British Columbia can pursue economic development projects in concert with environmental responsibility," said Bruce Lounds, Executive Director of British Columbians for International Prosperity.
"We believe that economic development is critical to provide good jobs for British Columbians, and to ensure that taxes are available to pay for health, education, infrastructure, and debt repayment. At the same time, environmental protection is important to industries like tourism and fisheries, as well as our quality of life, which are also important to British Columbians," said Lounds.
"We believe the Joint Review Panel has struck the right balance. We wait with optimism to see Enbridge's response to the conditions identified by the Joint Review Panel, and encourage the federal government to make a decision that will allow Enbridge to move forward with Northern Gateway", said Lounds.
