TORONTO, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS are pleased to announce the following appointments to the baseball operations department.
DANA BROWN has been appointed Special Assistant to the General Manager. The 42-year old, has spent the past eight seasons as the Director of Scouting for the Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos organization. His 2007 draft class was rated as "best in baseball" by Baseball America. Prior to his appointment with the Expos, he had worked as the East Coast scouting coordinator and area scouting supervisor for the Pittsburgh Pirates over eight seasons. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Brown was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1989, playing three seasons. He then began his post-playing career in player development as a minor league coach for two seasons in 1992. The Franklin Park, New Jersey resident was inducted into the SHU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
RYAN MITTLEMAN has been appointed to the position of coordinator, Amateur Scouting. The Providence, Rhode Island native spent the past four seasons as a coordinator in the scouting department. The 32-year old, won silver medals for Team USA on the Under 17 & 18 hockey teams and went on to play collegiate hockey at Boston College, prior to commencing a career with the Blue Jays.
HARRY EINBINDER has been appointed to the position of coordinator, Professional Scouting. The New York, New York native first joined the Blue Jays in the ticket department in 2005, and was recently an assistant in Baseball Research. Einbinder also spent part of 2007 working for the Mexican Baseball Academy.
