EDMONTON, AB, Sept. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Western Canada's oil patch has given
rise to a new integrated resource services company: Vertex Resource
Group Ltd. It's an amalgamation of three separate organizations:
Pioneer Professional Services Group Ltd., Wrapex Industrial Services
Ltd. and Westland Energy Services Ltd. Now, they're all officially
under the Vertex banner. "I'm extremely excited about our new name,"
says Terry Stephenson, CEO of Vertex. "It means the highest point, apex
or summit, and it sums up how we feel about our new venture."
Pioneer (1978) provided land acquisition, environmental, safety and
vegetation control services. Wrapex (1982) supplied construction and
building services, scaffolding and industrial insulation. Westland
(1985) provided equipment rentals, oilfield hauling and well-site
accommodations. All of them operated as subsidiaries of Blackjack
Vertex, accordingly, has three divisions: Construction Services,
Consulting & Engineering, and Rentals & Oilfield Hauling. Together they
provide an integrated mix of products and services that address the
needs of the energy sector from cradle to grave. The company comprises
over 700 employees, eleven offices, nine field offices and more than
1000 pieces of equipment.
Amalgamation makes everything simpler. Clients benefit from streamlined
processes and increased overall efficiency. Confusion is minimized.
There's only one name. One call accesses the entire range of products
and services. "Our new slogan is 'Versatility. Expertise.' and that's
what Vertex is all about," says Stephenson. "The only way forward is to
constantly improve and develop our services."
Terry Stephenson founded Blackjack Investments Ltd. in 2005. At the time
it consisted of two environment companies with 10 employees and
combined revenues of $2.3 million. In the subsequent seven years it has
grown to over 700 employees with annual revenues of nearly $120
million. This growth has been achieved by acquiring companies that have
allowed Blackjack to become a leader in construction, service,
consulting, engineering and equipment rentals to Western Canada's
energy sector. As a result, Blackjack was recently named one of
Canada's Top 50 Best Managed Companies by Deloitte and CIBC.
