SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 4, 2015 /CNW/ -- Azazie, an online bridal boutique reinventing the made-to-measure dress experience, celebrates its one-year anniversary this Friday.
Launched last fall, Azazie is on the mission to deliver impeccably fit, made-to-measure styles to wedding parties of all body sizes at a fraction of industry costs. Azazie's dresses come in over 200 styles and 57 colors, and bridesmaids can choose standard sizing from 0-30, or input their measurements for a custom dress at no additional cost. All designs are sketched in-house by stylists with backgrounds at major bridal labels, and refined based on crowd-sourced, community input. Every month, the newest designs are put online, and only the top-favorited designs are released into the style catalogue.
"I believe that every bridesmaid should be given the opportunity to wear a beautiful dress tailored to her figure," says Charles Zhong, CEO of Azazie. "We're passionate about bringing true personalization to wedding parties at affordable prices, in an industry notorious for high markups."
To account for every bridesmaid's unique figure, Azazie collects six measurements (including height, bust, waist, and hips) and uses its proprietary pattern-making fit technology to create a custom, made-to-order dress pattern for each individual. Once a new pattern is created, high-quality fabrics -- offered in chiffon, satin, charmeuse, taffeta, lace, and tulle -- are individually cut to size with a precise laser, and handmade by skilled artisan tailors who often come from a family heritage of dressmaking.
As an online boutique, Azazie is able to operate under a unique business model that can eliminate the cost of middlemen, brick-and-mortar stores, and pass on the savings directly to bridal parties.
Azazie also operates the largest sample program in the online bridal business, with over 3,000 dresses in its Mountain View warehouse ready to ship to brides across the country. For just $10, bridesmaids are able to first hand trial a dress before committing to an order. The process of customizing online and getting it delivered straight to your door caters to bridal parties scattered throughout the country, and reduces the complications of trying on in-store dresses for size. In addition, brides are allowed a free color swatch sample, and can order additional at just $2/each including shipping to ensure perfectly coordinated wedding color palettes. Azazie's fit guarantee also covers the costs of last minute, post-delivery tailoring on made-to-measure dresses in case of emergency, and accepts returns on standard sizes.
Just a year after its launch, Azazie, the name inspired by a trendy San Francisco brunch spot, has over doubled in size. To celebrate its first birthday, the boutique is hosting a birthday party sample sale, where guests can celebrate by sipping bubbly and shopping discounted dresses at its Mountain View office on November 6, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm. More information and tickets can be found at Azazie blog.
