Precast Tunnel Liner Rings for Construction of Toronto-York Spadina Subway
Extension

Toronto Stock Exchange: ARF.UN

GUELPH, ON, Dec. 18, 2009 /CNW/ - Armtec Infrastructure Income Fund (the "Fund") (TSX: ARF.UN) today announced it has been awarded a $43 million contract to supply precast concrete tunnel liner rings for the construction of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension ("TYSSE") between the Downsview Station, in the City of Toronto, through York University and to a terminal station in the City of Vaughan. For the project, the Fund will manufacture and deliver 8,800 precast concrete segmental rings with six components per ring, each of which is 5.4 metres in diameter. When installed, the rings will collectively form two continuous tunnels of about 6.5 kilometres in length.

The 18-month project is scheduled to begin production in August 2010 and run until early 2012. Delivery will be completed by November 2012. When it is completed, the extension will create a crucial expansion of the existing TTC subway system and provide a vital link for commuters, residents and visitors travelling within the fastest growing region of the Greater Toronto Area.

"This contract is the single largest award in the Fund's history and was due in part to our ability to demonstrate our industry position as a leading national precast concrete service provider to customers with large-scale infrastructure projects across the country," said Charles Phillips, President and Chief Executive Officer. "With our recent growth and organizational transition to a regional structure, the Fund is well positioned to take advantage of its greater size and scale to execute on its growth strategy. The successful award of the TYSSE project was made possible by our emerging culture of strong regional collaboration and knowledge sharing that creates further opportunity to provide a full array of innovative infrastructure products and services to customers in all market segments in all regions."
