Over 100,000 bicycles will be available in Walmart stores country-wide
WATERLOO, QC, March 25 /CNW Telbec/ - Raleigh Canada is pleased to announce a partnership agreement with Walmart Canada for the purchase over 100,000 bicycles produced at the Waterloo, Québec factory. Since arriving in Canada in 1994, Walmart has purchased 1.4 million bicycles from Raleigh. These bikes will now be available at all Walmart stores across the country.
"Raleigh Canada is very proud of its renewed partnership with Walmart Canada. Our North American manufacturing plant is located in Waterloo, Quebec, and employs approximately 200 people. Along with Walmart, we are hoping to encourage Canadians to get on a bike that they can easily afford," stated Farid Vaiya, president of Raleigh Canada.
"A Raleigh bike will allow you to rediscover the joys of cycling, whether it is your first one or your fifth, added Chantal Glenisson, Vice President of Operations for Walmart Quebec. We are very enthusiastic about encouraging more Canadians to take up cycling and become more physically active. This will allow us to offer a wide selection at unbeatable prices."
This agreement will allow the creation of over 170 full time jobs at the Waterloo factory.

Raleigh bicycles have been in existence since 1887 and Raleigh Canada has been making bicycles in their Waterloo Quebec factory since 1973. Since then they have made over 9 million bicycles for the Canadian market and 1.4 million have been for Walmart.
