Amy's Kitchen Product Recall: Less Than 500 Cases Shipped to Canada
PETALUMA, Calif., March 25, 2015 /CNW/ -- On Sunday, March 22, Amy's Kitchen issued a recall of approximately 73,897 cases of selected products after one of its suppliers issued a recall of organic spinach that it had supplied to Amy's. Only 448 of Amy's recalled cases were sent to Canada. That represents just 0.1% of Amy's shipments to Canada in the past year, and all of the recalled products have now been destroyed or are being recalled from the market.
Amy's requires and obtained Certificates of Analysis from the supplier confirming the absence of Listeria. After providing the Certificates, however, the supplier notified Amy's that 5 lots of the organic spinach that had been supplied to Amy's tested positive for Listeria. After receiving the notice from its supplier, Amy's Kitchen immediately contacted U.S. FDA and out of an abundance of caution voluntarily recalled the affected products. Amy's Kitchen also placed on hold all spinach received from the supplier, including the specific spinach implicated in the recall as well as any other spinach from the supplier, and suspended future orders of the organic spinach from the supplier, pending further investigation.
The recall applied to the following products that were shipped to Canada:
