EDMONTON, April 5, 2016 /CNW/ - AMVIC's in-house legal counsel, Elizabeth Maishlish, has received the distinction of being included in Auto Remarketing Canada's 2016 Class of Remarketing's Under 40.
"I'm very passionate about consumer protection and honoured to receive recognition for my work in support of consumer rights and fair market competition," Elizabeth Maishlish, AMVIC counsel said.
Maishlish has been at the forefront of many legal and policy issues impacting automotive industry regulation. She has years of knowledge and experience in administrative law and in prosecuting industry-related provincial offences.
"Elizabeth very much deserves this honour," John Bachinski, president and CEO of AMVIC said. "Her expertise in practicing law and strong work ethic are very valuable to AMVIC and consumers in this province."
Maishlish joined AMVIC in January 2016. Prior to that she practised defence law and then spent five years as counsel to the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council.
"Maishlish has an outstanding record of fairly prosecuting automotive matters in the public interest," Bachinski said.
Maishlish's successes in Ontario include several groundbreaking cases relating to sentencing unlicensed automotive salespeople, known as curbers.
"I am pleased to bring my experience to AMVIC and to work with the council's team to promote a fair, informed, competitive and compliant marketplace" Maishlish said.
Maishlish is one of 20 industry professionals included in Auto Remarketing Canada's 2016 Class of Remarketing's Under 40. The group will be honoured during an award ceremony on April 5, 2016. The honorees have also been featured in the March/April issue of Auto Remarketing Canada Magazine.
