TORONTO, Oct. 14, 2016 /CNW/ - The Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario (AMPCO) Board of Directors has selected Colin Anderson as its new President, effective October 14, 2016.
"On behalf of AMPCO, I am pleased to welcome our new President," said Mark Passi, Chairman of AMPCO. "Colin's extensive experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs and the electricity market will be a great benefit to AMPCO members. His expertise will also assist in advancing our goals of maintaining and attracting investments and jobs in Ontario by improving our global competitive standing."
Mr. Anderson comes to AMPCO with over 25 years of experience in the energy sector, serving the last 15 at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), most recently as Director of Major Applications. His recent experience in regulatory matters and previously on the ground as an engineer has allowed Mr. Anderson to gain expertise in the technical realities of the electricity system and market, long-term energy planning in Ontario, stakeholder and government relations and market renewal.
"I am extremely excited to join AMPCO's team as it advocates on behalf of large energy consumers in the province," said Anderson. "Having worked with AMPCO in the past during a variety of regulatory proceedings and stakeholder committees, I appreciate the thorough analytics and policy solutions it develops and believe we have a shared understanding of how to be effective in the sector."
AMPCO's Board of Directors conducted an extensive executive search to ensure members had a leader who will help advance the organization's goals and vision.
AMPCO is a not-for-profit consumer interest advocacy organization. AMPCO's members represent Ontario's major industries: forestry, chemical, mining and minerals, steel, petroleum products, cement, automotive, industrial air, manufacturing and business consumers in general.
