Sovani and Flare.com host Google Hangout with young Canadian women to kick start conversation about sex and contraception
TORONTO, June 10, 2014 /CNW/ - When was last time you had a Sex Ed class? Chances are, it's been a while. On June 11th, television personality Aliya-Jasmine Sovani – no stranger to a taboo topic or two – will take part in a campaign designed to start a conversation with young women about a better way to take control of their bodies and focus on achieving their goals without the stress of an unplanned pregnancy. Sovani is tackling this hot topic by hosting a 'Sex Ed Refresh' Google Hangout with social media followers followed by a 'Sex Ed 2.0' class event for media and influencers. Ms. Sovani is looking to empower women to stay on track with their career and life goals without the worry of unintended pregnancy.
"When's the last time you took a Sex Ed class? Probably in your high school gym!" said Aliya-Jasmine Sovani. "I love having candid conversations with the young women who watch me on TV. When it comes to our bodies it is empowering knowing all of the options available to us. My career has been my focus since I was a teenager, so I understand wanting to concentrate on those life goals. Now there's an option that makes it even easier for a woman to really focus on her career without the worry of getting pregnant before she's ready to plan for a family."
To help young women understand all the contraceptive options available to them, women's health expert Dr. Natashia Grell will answer any and all questions about sexual health and birth control.
The Flare.com-hosted Google Hangout, which will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, will feature a frank discussion on topics like sex, contraception, unplanned pregnancy and achieving your career goals and while allowing Canadian women to ask their questions to Sovani and Dr. Grell. To join the conversation tweet @aliyajasmine using #FlareSexEd and visit http://www.flare.com/beauty/health/aliya-jasmine-sovani-sex-education to watch.
After the Hangout, Sovani is teaming up with New York cool kid, DJ and founder of the Beautified app, Hannah Bronfman, at a media event for a Beyonce-inspired dance class followed by some girl talk with women's health experts – Dr. Grell MD as well as sexpert Dr. Jess O'Reilly PhD.
