MONTREAL, Dec. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel and Glen Carlin, General Manager of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI), are pleased to announce the opening of Ramp 3, providing access to Autoroute 15 Nord from the L'Île-des-Soeurs neighbourhood, during the night of December 4-5.
Ville de Montréal, within its Capital Expenditure Program (structuring CEP), contributed $7.6 million to this project, which comes within the will of Verdun Borough Council members to reconfigure L'Île-des-Sœurs entrances and exits so as to double the access there, for a better flow of traffic.
This new direct access to Autoroute 15 Nord from the Claude-Robutel roundabout will greatly improve road traffic in that part of the island. "It's a major step that has just been completed and we are very pleased with the work accomplished in partnership with Verdun Borough authorities," pointed out Mr. Carlin.
As for Richard Deschamps, responsible for 2025 large-scale projects, economic development, infrastructures and roads on Ville de Montréal's Executive Committee, he joined Mayor Claude Trudel in saying that he was delighted over the fact that for Ville de Montréal, this large-scale project has been carried out without exceeding costs and within the targeted timeframe.
All the work involved in reconfiguring the L'Île-des-Sœurs entrances and exits is expected to be finished by the end of 2010.
