Abitex reports final U-Au results for Epsilon-B

VAL D'OR, QC, Jan. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Abitex Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ABE) (the "Company") is pleased to announce final assay results from a surface sampling program on its 100% owned Epsilon U-Au property located 350 km north-east of Chibougamau in Quebec's Otish Mountains region and only 15 km east of the Lavoie property where the Company is completing an initial 43-101 resource estimate. The final results include U-Au assay results for two "mini-bulk" samples taken from the Epsilon-B discovery outcrop as well as gold assay results for previously released channel samples.

On the discovery outcrop, a strongly fractured and altered upper sandstone unit is heavily mineralized with disseminated and fracture filling vein-type uranium and poylmetallic minerals. Most of this unit has been eroded at the exposed outcrop level where it is in contact with an overlying gabbro sill. Two large representative samples were taken from the upper unit and sent to SRC Geoanalytical Laboratories where they were homogenized and five sub-samples were taken for U-Au assay from each large sample. Results are reported below:

Yves Rougerie, President & CEO, reports: "The results of these large representative grab samples on the Epsilon-B outcrop confirm the high U-Au grades of the mineralization encountered and consequently the importance of this discovery. Based on its striking similarities with the "L" deposit, its surface setting and the grades encountered to date, we believe the Epsilon-B occurrence has the potential to quickly develop into a significant uranium-gold resource."

Gold assay results have also been received for the previously reported Epsilon-B channel samples. Channels were sawed across strongly silicified sandstones which lie below the upper sandstone unit and represent 90% of the exposed outcrop. Mineralization consists of widespread oxidized uranium minerals as well as fine grained disseminated poylmetallic minerals. Results are as follows:

The results confirm the widespread distribution of, and significant grades for both uranium and gold throughout the outcrop. Abitex is now planning a drill program for the Epsilon-B area this winter. The program will define the discovery area geology and mineralization and also assess the lateral and depth extent of the mineralized zone.

Channel and grab samples were taken, transported and shipped by Groupe Omégalpha of Joliette, Québec, to SRC Geoanalytical Laboratories in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for assay by ICP Total Digestion for 46 elements. Gold assays were subsequently done by Fire Assay on 30g aliquots. The large samples reported herein were assayed for U-Au only by ICP.
