But that's not all - 9 prizes of $1 Million are also available to be
WINNIPEG, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - They may not be among those competing in Vancouver, but Canadian lottery players have the opportunity to "go for the gold" this Friday! In addition to the $50 Million Jackpot available to be won on the February 26th LOTTO MAX(TM) draw, players will also have the opportunity to win an estimated nine additional MAXMILLIONS(TM) prizes of $1 Million each.
It's only the second time since LOTTO MAX launched across Canada in September 2009 that players will experience MAXMILLIONS prizing. Over the past six weeks that there has been no LOTTO MAX Jackpot winner, the Top Prize has continued to grow, until it exceeded the game's $50 Million Jackpot cap. Now that the game has passed that threshold, a separate draw will be held for every additional $1 Million in Jackpot funding above the cap.
The last time LOTTO MAX offered MAXMILLIONS was on the November 6th draw, when a $50 Million Jackpot and 10 MAXMILLIONS prizes were offered. The $50 Million main Jackpot for that draw was won by a ticket purchased in Manitoba; and five of the 10 MAXMILLIONS prizes were also won by tickets from across the country - making that evening's the largest Canadian lottery payout in history.
Each ticket sold for Friday night's draw is automatically entered in the draw for the $50 Million Jackpot and in all nine of the MAXMILLIONS draws. LOTTO MAX's main Jackpot has subsidiary prizes available for matching as few as three numbers. MAXMILLIONS must be matched exactly to win or share the $1 Million prize - there are no subsidiary prizes.
If Friday's main $50 Million Jackpot is not won, it and any MAXMILLIONS prizes not won will carry over to the March 5th draw: meaning another $50 Million Jackpot and even more MAXMILLIONS prizes available.
If the Jackpot is won, but one or more MAXMILLIONS prizes are not, the remaining $1 Million prizes will be added to the March 5th Jackpot - increasing the $10 Million base Jackpot by whatever amount was not won in the MAXMILLIONS draws.
LOTTO MAX tickets can be purchased until 8:00 p.m. CT/7:00 p.m. MT/6:00 p.m. PT on Friday evening. The winning numbers and prize breakdown will be posted to wclc.com as soon as they're available. However, because separate draws must be held for every MAXMILLIONS prize available, results may be available later than usual.
