4Deep inwater imaging receives $500,000 investment, gains access to key Chinese market and forges forward with joint R&D venture

HALIFAX, Nov. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Halifax technology company 4Deep inwater imaging closed a $500,000 equity investment with BOSMA USA on November 13, 2015. Concurrent with this investment, the company secured product distribution through all of mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. In addition, 4Deep and BOSMA will establish a mutual research and development venture based in Silicon Valley.

With BOSMA's expertise in optical manufacturing, the focus will be to enhance 4Deep's core proprietary digital holographic technology for the purpose of quality control for large-scale, optics manufacturing.

"We are thrilled with this agreement," said 4Deep CEO Dr. Stephen Jones. "The Chinese market is extremely important to 4Deep, and BOSMA is an ideal equity partner. This market suits our technology perfectly and will no doubt push the limits of innovation and creativity, and generate some exciting products in the next year or two."

"This is a big step for both 4Deep and BOSMA. Congratulations to the team!" said BOSMA USA CEO, Dexiang Zeng. "We look forward to working together closely and expect great success in the future."

The primary focus in Halifax will not change and 4Deep will continue to enhance and promote their submersible microscope for real-time water quality applications. The company continues to innovate and has just signed a research agreement with Dalhousie University to collect marine algae images which will be used to develop a Deep Neural Network (DNN) based automatic recognition software.

2016 will be exciting for 4Deep as the company also launches a new submersible florescence microscope. With added capital, the company will be expanding by hiring additional employees in early 2016 and improving production capacity.
