VANCOUVER, May 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Don Babick and Scott Macrae, Co-Chairs of the Jack Webster Foundation, today launched the 2012 Jack Webster Awards to recognize excellence in BC print, broadcast and multimedia journalism. This year's deadline for entries is June 30.
"For the 26th year, the Jack Webster Foundation presents its annual award program in the name of one of BC's best-known journalists," Macrae said. "From 1947 to 1987, in print, open-line radio and TV, the late Jack Webster set a standard for hard-hitting journalism that continues to inspirethe current generation of practitioners."
"Webster Awards are open to all journalists - print, broadcast, online - reporting in news, sports, arts, business, etc.," said Co-Chair Babick. "Journalists need only select the appropriate category to enter their best work."
"Webster" statues will be awarded in the following categories:
- Multimedia
- Commentator of the Year - City Mike Award
- News (one each for print, radio and TV)
- Feature (one each for print, radio and TV)
- Science, Technology, Health and Environment
- Legal Journalism
- Community
- Business, Industry and Economics
- Chinese Language
Submissions must have been aired or published between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012. Deadline for entry is June 30, 2012.

The awards will be presented at the 2012 Jack Webster Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 1 in Vancouver.
