The Niagara International Music Festival, created by Lois and Don Harper, assisted by Joan and John Dove, of Grimsby, over the years has brought 142 groups, over 5000 participants, from 25 states (from Alaska to California to Florida), 9 provinces, Monaco, Grenada, Mexico, Scotland, Slovenia, Iceland, N. Ireland, Bahamas, Estonia, Spain, New Zealand, Slovakia, Germany, Finland, England, Trinidad and Tobago to the Niagara Region!

These groups demonstrate vividly, through this Friendship Festival, that the world works best when different peoples work together. After the festivals are over, it sometimes happens that groups from different parts of the world like each other and set up exchanges. All these contacts result in people who might never otherwise come to Canada or Niagara in their lifetime, gaining an insight into what Canada, Niagara and Canadians are really a like.
