Grand Renewable Solar Project now poised to proceed, creating hundreds
of local jobs
WATERLOO, ON, Oct. 17, 2013 /CNW/ - s2e Technologies (s2e) announced
today its development participation in the largest solar project in
Canada. An important step forward has been taken for the 100 megawatt
(MW) Grand Renewable Solar Project (GRS), with the formation of a
financing partnership for the initiative, which will be located in
Haldimand County, and is expected to create hundreds of local jobs.
That financing announcement was made October 15th by partners Samsung
Renewable Energy, Inc., Connor Clark & Lunn Infrastructure and Six
Nations of the Grand River.
Waterloo-based s2e played a key role in originating and structuring the
transaction and will provide construction management services while the
GRS project is being built.
"This is a good day for the community," said Milfred Hammerbacher, CEO
of s2e Technologies Inc. "We're proud to be a part of an innovative
project like this - one of the largest in North America - and to see a
project of this caliber and quality come into our own community. We are
also honoured to be part of the outstanding collaboration with Samsung
Renewable Energy, Connor Clark & Lunn Infrastructure, Canadian Solar
Inc., CarbonFree Technology and Six Nations of the Grand River".
The Grand Renewable Solar Project will create new solar jobs in southern
Ontario from the manufacture of key components to the construction
process and operation of the project. Those jobs should begin soon,
according to Hammerbacher. Construction is expected to begin almost
immediately and the project is expected to be operational by mid-2015.
