Veterinary Clinic Has Raised Over $30,000 as Top Farley Fundraiser Helping People in Need Care for Their Pets

MILTON, ON, Oct. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Nearly 300 Ontario veterinary clinics across the province are raising funds and awareness for people and pets all month long during October's P&G Pet Care Fundraise for Farley Month. The Farley Foundation is a charity that assists low-income pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective or emergency veterinary care of the pets that mean the world to them. Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital is one of the Farley Foundation's biggest supporters and has been the top fundraiser during Fundraise for Farley Month for several years, raising more than $30,000 over the past five years!

Veterinarians at Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital have seen firsthand the difference the Farley Foundation can make in the lives of pet owners. "One of our patients named Cuddles was experiencing severe mouth pain," says Dr. Jeffrey Kubinec, owner of Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital. "Cuddles was in need of blood testing, a comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment, and three tooth extractions. Cuddles' owners were receiving the Ontario Disability Support Payment, and they could not afford the necessary dental treatment. This is exactly the kind of situation where the Farley Foundation steps in to help - and it's why we're so passionate about fundraising."

Veterinary clinics across the province are participating in this year's campaign by holding a variety of fundraising and awareness events and selling exclusive Farley Foundation giveaway items in exchange for a donation to the Foundation.

"Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital holds a variety of events every October, including a Leash-a-Thon and our Sponsor a Spay or Neuter for Farley Program," says Dr. Kubinec. "P&G Pet Care Fundraise for Farley Month brings the pet lovers in our community together for a great cause, and we are happy to be able to help pet owners in need and pets like Cuddles get the care they so desperately need."
