Travelocity.ca survey unpacks Canadian relationship travel truths
63 per cent of Canadians confess travel increases the likelihood of sex
TORONTO, May 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, Travelocity.ca released the results of a new national survey which unpacks the truths of relationship travel. Sixty-three per cent of Canadians confess travel increases the likelihood of sex - a steamy statistic - followed by the desire to experience new things like zip-lining or even trying new cuisine.
"We know Canadians love to travel but Travelocity.ca wanted to uncover the impact of travelling with a partner at all relationship stages. With Canadians placing so much concentration on careers and personal time, making time to connect is so important," says Travelocity.ca relationship expert, Ashley Howe.
Canadians are after more than just sex when travelling. Romance plays a huge part in choosing a travel companion, with 88 per cent of respondents saying they would rather travel with their partner than anyone else. Not shocking, as travel is one of the rare opportunities couples get to connect and discover more about one another. In fact, 38 per cent of respondents reported the most valuable thing they learned about their partner is how much more they have in common with them than they previously thought.
The survey also uncovered that Canadians are choosey when it comes to romantic destinations. Rome (33 per cent) is the most popular destination couples would like to visit with their partner next. New York, Cancun and Las Vegas are also popular getaways with Canadian couples, however, almost half of those surveyed felt European destinations had the most to offer them as a couple when travelling together.
"The survey results show that we always have something more to learn about our partner. And it's through opening yourselves up to new experiences, like taking a trip somewhere new, that you're able to create unique travel experiences and memories that only the two of you share," said Howe.
So, whether in Rome, Vegas or Cancun, it's clear Canadian couples travelling together are open to an influx in romance, sex and exciting new experiences when they travel.
