The École Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys in Markham, Ontario secures the 50,000th copy of a resource for Francophones in minority settings

WINNIPEG, Feb. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) is pleased that the École Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys in Markham, Ontario has acquired the 50,000th booklet in the Dream Big series.

The CTF and its partner, the Association canadienne d'éducation de langue française (ACELF), have developed this series to give exogamous couples the support they need to help their school-age children develop, expand and improve their French-language skills and build their Francophone identity in a minority setting. Launched in 2007, the Dream Big series includes four booklets.

The announcement was made at the annual meeting of the Network of Liaison Officers of CTF Member organizations, in Winnipeg, on February 2. CTF President Paul Taillefer is delighted with this successful outcome: "Not only are we proud that so many copies of these identity-building guides are circulated in Francophone communities across the country, but this confirms that we are addressing a genuine need for French-language education stakeholders."

Over the years, various partnerships were built to make the development of this series possible. But the ACELF initiated the concept, and CTF is pleased to be a privileged partner in this initiative that continues this year with the preparation of a resource on the use of technology to foster Francophone identity building. "Thanks to the agreements that we renew each year with the ACELF, we are able to offer a quality product to teachers in French-language schools and we wish to thank the ACELF for that," says Paul Taillefer.

To highlight the event, the CTF is pleased to present the École Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys with the Debout! 2 CD box set that contains the albums with the ten favorite Francophone songs chosen by students across the country.

CTF speaks for nearly 200,000 teachers in Canada as their national voice on education and related social issues. CTF membership includes teacher organizations across Canada.
