Roberto Alomar & Friends Charity Home Run Derby presented by Allstate supports Alberta flood-relief efforts

Jays Care makes $30,000 commitment to Siksika Nation and High River, AB

TORONTO, July 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Toronto Blue Jays, through Jays Care Foundation, have committed to donating $30,000 of the proceeds raised from the Roberto Alomar & Friends Charity Home Run Derby presented by Allstate to Siksika Nation and High River, two areas most effected by the recent flooding in Alberta.

"As Canada's only Major League Baseball team, it is our duty to help communities in need from coast to coast," said Rob Drynan, Executive Director of Jays Care Foundation. "We are proud to assist in the recovery and redevelopment of Siksika Nation and High River, Alberta."

On Thursday, August 1, Blue Jays fans are invited to help Jays Care support the Alberta flood-relief efforts by stepping up to the plate and participating in the Roberto Alomar & Friends Charity Home Run Derby presented by Allstate at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, AB.

Participants will have the opportunity to show off their batting skills and face Toronto Blue Jays alumni celebrity pitchers, including Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, Cecil Fielder, Jesse Barfield, Lloyd Moseby, Duane Ward and Otto Valez. They will receive a Blue Jays jacket, and food and beverage throughout the day. In addition, the top fundraiser will win a trip for two to Toronto during the 2013 Blue Jays season.

Individuals and corporate teams can register for the Roberto Alomar & Friends Charity Home Run Derby presented by Allstate by visiting www.bluejays.com/calgary.
