Rallye des Contreforts of the Naval Museum of Québec

QUEBEC, Sept. 27, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - For the seventh year, the Naval Museum of Québec is organizing its Rallye des Contreforts during the Journées de la Culture. This time, we will explore the relationship between Québec City and the United States. You will be surprised to see how history has some exciting and unforeseen turns of events.

For example, even though basketball is typically known as an American sport, it was actually invented by a Canadian! Or, did you know the State of Vermont has once contemplated joining Canada? And that conversely in 1849, 325 Montréal businessmen suggested the Province of Canada annex itself to the United States? Of course, questions will also include information about the military history of the city.

The Rallye des Contreforts is a fun and educational activity which brings hundreds of participants to walk the streets of Old Québec and to discover tangible and often obscure witnesses in our everyday environment. Our rally is participatory and non-competitive. The winners are drawn randomly from all of those who have participated and who get an average of 75%. In 2012, this rally is offered to different audiences.

There is one rally for schools and for families, which consists of a 10-question questionnaire on Old Québec, both in the Upper and the Lower town. It will take place on Friday, 28 September, for schools, and from 28 to 30 September for families.

Another version for experts has 24 questions on a slightly larger area and with a higher level of difficulty while taking place from 28 to 30 September.

We warmly invite you to take advantage of the end of September to plunge in the history of Québec. Everything is free. For more information please call 418.694.5560 extension 5657.
