Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal awarded to 30 Canadian teachers

OTTAWA, June 6, 2012 /CNW/ - Throughout the year, 30 teachers from across Canada will be honored by their respective teachers organizations and the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) and receive a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada.

"We are delighted to honour these teachers from the Yukon to Newfoundland and Labrador who have been identified by their teacher organizations and CTF for this prestigious medal which honours their contributions to the teaching profession," explains CTF President Paul Taillefer.  The recipients of the award are:

The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a visible and tangible way to recognize 60,000 outstanding Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life, who have built and who continue to build this caring society and country through their service, contributions and achievements.

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada invited partnering organizations - including CTF - to select candidates from within its Member organizations to receive this prestigious national honour.
