First Three Seasons Of A&E®'s Mega-Hit Reality Show Collectively Sell More Than Any TV Series On DVD This Year
Duck Dynasty: Seasons 1-3 Collector's Set Will Be Available For The Holidays
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - Duck Dynasty®, A&E®'s blockbuster TV series, is one step closer to achieving "Duck Nation" domination as Lionsgate today announced that the individual releases of Duck Dynasty: Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 have sold over 2.5 million DVDs combined. A&E's most successful franchise on DVD ever, the first three seasons of Duck Dynasty are collectively the overall best-selling TV show on DVD this year.* A Collector's Set of the series will be released on December 3 in time for the holidays, and will include brand new bonus material.
"Duck Dynasty's sales performance to date has surpassed our expectations, especially the recent success of Season 3 on DVD," said Ron Schwartz, Lionsgate President and General Manager of Home Entertainment Sales & Distribution. "The continued rise in the show's popularity, evidenced by the uptick in ratings with each subsequent season, shows more and more fans are continuing to be drawn to the Robertson family. Our upcoming Collector's Set release, timed for the holidays, is a great way to catch up on the unique wit and humor of this eclectic clan whether you're new to the series or a die-hard fan."
Since its premiere in March 2012, Duck Dynasty has surged in popularity as "Duck Mania" has overtaken the nation. The Season 3 finale scored an astounding 9.8 million viewers – an all-time record for the network that was quickly exceeded by the Season 4 premiere which drew 11.8 million viewers and became the most-watched non-fiction cable broadcast in history. The Robertson family of Duck Dynasty has become so popular that their available brand offerings extend beyond the TV show with apparel, home goods, children's toys, Halloween Costumes, Beef Jerky, of course "Duck-Tape" and many more.
"We are delighted that the Duck Dynasty DVDs are among the top DVD sellers at retail," said Kate Winn, Senior Vice President, Consumer Products, A+E Networks. "This is another example of the great demand for Duck Dynasty content and products. We have a broad assortment of products already out in the market and plan to roll out even more merchandise in the holiday season so stay tuned."
Duck Dynasty follows the Robertson family, a close-knit clan that has made a fortune selling duck calls and turned their backyard business into a multi-million dollar sporting empire. Each day they meet challenges with their own special brand of practicality and humor and despite achieving the American dream, they always stay true to their rugged, yet modest, outdoor lifestyle and their deep Southern roots.
The Duck Dynasty: Seasons 1-3 Collector's Set, which offers "Duck Dynasty" for the first time on Blu-ray, includes the first three seasons of the series, never before released bonus features plus an exclusive limited edition Duck Camo bandana. The set will be available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD December 3 for the suggested retail price of $49.99 and $49.98, respectively.
